Behind the window overlooking the charming store place du Vieux-Marché, you can see the bakers busy in flour and good mood. It is that bread is above all a matter of men and women for Christophe Cressent who likes to remind: “quality requires human intervention.

Great grandson of bakers and trainer for ten years, he works his bread with natural leaven, in organic flour and French tradition. You can find, at his place, rye pies to the old, breads with nuts, rustic cobblestones and his famous baguette “ signature” which the Rouennais love, not to mention flaky brioches, pastries and pastries all equally tasty.

The good smell of warm bread and sweet delights

“I want to make people want to eat good things and make it a daily pleasure.”

This artisan at heart likes to keep the baking tradition but also experiment, playing with textures and flavors. Thus, he brings back to honor the mirliton of Rouen, this little tartlet made of sugar, vanilla and melted butter, which he energizes while keeping the creamy texture.

“It’s a way to pay homage to my grandfather, who used to make a marvelous flan that I still remember,” he enthuses.

Today, Christophe Cressent is present in the two food hubs of the Normandy capital,Rue Armand Carrel and Place du Vieux-Marché, and has managed to create gourmet, welcoming bakeries and supplies the city’s great tables with his oh-so-tasty breads.
