2022 is finally giving way to a new year full of promises and appointments for young and old.
Here are the main cultural, gastronomic, sports and festive events…in Rouen in 2023!

 

In January, hunt for unique objects

From Friday, January 13 to Sunday, January 15, the Puces Rouennaises are back for the greatest happiness of flea market lovers. During these 3 days, stroll through the aisles to discover collections, objects and antique, retro chic, vintage or unusual furniture. For antique and Brocante professionals, Thursday, January 12 is specially reserved for you.

And don’t forget, the Saint-Ouen participatory funding campaign in partnership with the Fondation du Patrimoine continues! We need you to restore the rose in the south transept of the Saint-Ouen Abbey.

In February, put on your skates

with ice

On Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4, the French Cup returns for its 28th edition. During this international synchronized skating competition, dazzle yourself with the artistic performances of many teams, determined to qualify for the worlds.

Also, Monday, February 27, marks the beginning of the orals for the candidate cities for the European Capital of Culture 2028 label. At the end of these highlights, the shortlisted cities will be known. Go Rouen Seine Normande 2028!!

In March and April, be curious

From Wednesday, March 8 to Sunday, April 16, the Spring Festival, the first international festival of contemporary circus on a regional scale, invites you for five weeks to meet today’s circus: dance, music, theater, visual arts…

In March, it’s also an opportunity for us to celebrate the anniversary of the Club des Toques, 20 years already!
Created in 2003, at the initiative of the Tourist Office, the Club des Toques aims to preserve Rouen’s gastronomic heritage by bringing together the best starred restaurants and tables in the Rouen Normandy Metropolis.

From Friday, April 14 to Sunday, August 13, the Museum of Antiquities and the Museum of Fine Arts are hosting the exhibition “Normans. Migrants, Conquerors, Innovators”. Thought up with the cooperation of the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen in Mannheim, Germany, this exhibition traces the history between Normandy and the world through 350 works.

And if you’d like to learn more about Rouen’s past during World War II, head to the Donjon of Rouen. Starting in April, a new World War II-themed escape game opens its doors: new scenarios, new challenges and a brand new plot await you.

In May, combine historical and natural heritage

In Rouen, her memory permeates the walls. Marker figure of French History, Joan has become a mythe that arouses international interest. Vibrate to the pulse of the last hours of the Pucelle in the Norman capital.

From Thursday 18 to Saturday 20 May 2023, the “Joan of Arc Festivals” return for a second edition. Parades, medieval market, shows… take a leap back in time to the time of the troubadours.

And if you want to enjoy a flowery and colorful weekend, on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May, Grains de Jardin will once again reinvest the Jardin des Plantes in Rouen under the theme of gourmet gardens.

In June, set sail

From Wednesday, June 7 to Sunday, June 18, the Armada returns for 12 days of celebrations in the city and on the Seine. With more than 8,000 sailors taking over the streets of Rouen, this largest nautical gathering in the world is the event not to be missed. Take advantage of our daytime and evening cruises aboard launches, on a stroll or with on-board catering, not to mention sailing aboard the most beautiful sailing ships.

That’s not all! Other festivities, await you in June:
The return of Cathedral of Light with the shows The New Worlds and Rendezvous with Light. Admire the Notre-Dame de Rouen Cathedral in a different way.
The 34th edition of the Viva Cité festival, Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25, meet the amateurs and professionals of street arts in Sotteville-lès-Rouen.
The Archéo Jazz Festival, celebrate jazz, blues on the site of the remains of the medieval castle of Blainville-Crevon.

During the summer, liven up your evenings

Every Thursday in July, Rouen offers les Terrasses du Jeudi, a series of free concerts in a variety of musical styles in the heart of Rouen. The month of July also offers appointments for the little ones with Rouen sur mer. An air of vacation… in Rouen.

In addition, the Château Robert Le Diable invites you to discover the mythical fortress in a playful way thanks to its Explor Games® Equip yourself with a tablet and set out to meet the ghosts of the past: Mathilde of Flanders, Rollon and even the cruel Robert the Devil. Throughout the summer, Les Musicales de Normandie offer you new concerts in remarkable heritage places in the region. Listen to classical music, world music or even recital.

On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September, the Heritage Days return around a new theme. This weekend invites you to discover or rediscover the establishments, monuments and sites of our rich heritage that are often exceptional and closed the rest of the year.

A lively autumn

An unmissable gustatory rendezvous, the Belly and Gastronomy Festival once again honors French and especially Norman gastronomy on Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15. Stroll through the historic city center of Rouen and taste some great food. Beware of foodies!

From Friday, October 20 to Sunday, November 19, the Foire Saint-Romain lights up for the greatest pleasure of Rouen residents, young and old. Ghost trains, laughter palace, ice cream, thrill rides, crunchy… a colorful event.

As the end-of-year holidays approach, the heart of Rouen comes alive with Rouen Givrée. Christmas and creators’ market, frosted refuge, animations, illuminations and novelties… a beautiful 14th edition in perspective!
