The tournament kicks off this Thursday, 11 June, with Mexico taking on South Africa. Organised for the first time by three countries – the United States, Canada and Mexico – this edition will feature 48 teams, a record number for the competition. For several weeks, the world’s top football nations will battle it out in iconic stadiums in a bid to lift the coveted trophy. With new sporting ambitions, passionate fans and unforgettable moments, the 2026 World Cup promises to write a new chapter in the history of football.

As for the French team, they will kick off their campaign on 16 June against Senegal. Buoyed by their previous successes, Les Bleus are one of the major contenders expected to shine in this competition.

There are many contenders for the title, and the battle for the trophy promises to be full of twists and turns!

The opening match of Euro 2020 will see Germany take on Scotland on Friday 14 June at 9pm at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
