Adventure by bike

Saddle up for La Seine à Vélo! This developed route follows the curves of the river and crosses the Rouen Metropolis over a hundred kilometers and 22 communes. A walk at the rhythm of the water and in the heart of the historical and natural heritage of Normandy between hedgerows, forests and urban sites. This route, suitable for all levels, represents a strong axis of the device that goes from Paris to Le Havre. So who tries the adventure to the sea?
The Tourist Office offers bike rentals, mountain bikes, electric bikes, children’s bikes, baby carriers, helmets and children’s trailers from ½ day in its tourist information points in Jumièges and Rouen.

Leisure activities

What better way to unwind than on multi-sport leisure bases! In the hollow of the third meander of the Seine, north of
Rouen,the leisure base of Jumièges allows you to enjoy large green spaces and a supervised swimming area in July and August.
The Adventure Park will satisfy paintball, mini-golf, miniquad or BMX enthusiasts, with a sensational 250 m zip line!
On the other side, nestled in a loop south of Rouen, it’s the Bedane leisure base that will delight water sports enthusiasts
with a body of water for dinghy, sport keelboat, catamaran, kayak or windsurfing practice.

A parenthesis in a garden

A little freshness and contemplation in a setting of green. The Normandy countryside is full of gardens, each as fragrant and colorful as the next. The poetic gardens of Angelique in Montmain, the labyrinthine gardens of Agapante in Grigneuseville or the Garden of plants in Rouen. Rose garden, monumental trees, fountains and games create an ideal setting for families. The Garden Secrets storytelling tour will delight lovers of botany and beautiful stories.

An exceptional natural and regional park

What a wonder! Crisscrossing the Boucles de la Seine Normande Regional Nature Park is an invigorating experience. At the gates of Rouen, the diversity of its landscapes, between bocages, marshes and chalk cliffs, favors a varied sporting approach: hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, canoeing, etc. By taking the high ground, one can access some breathtaking panoramas. Storytelling hikes also provide an opportunity to discover the landscape and its legends, such as the Green Wolf Hike, on the grounds of Jumièges.

  • On horseback!

Norman sites lend themselves to horseback riding. At the Haras des Fendanges, for example, near the Roumare forest, self-guided rides for children are organized. La Chevauchée en Vallée de Seine is, moreover, a great itinerary that links the abbey of Jumièges and that of Valasse. Riders cross villages and forests and even take the ferry with their mount. Atypical !

  • Golf, now !

Three golf courses near Rouen is rare enough to notice. The one in Mont-Saint-Aignan offers an 18-hole course for the more seasoned players and a driving range, perfect for beginners. In Bois-Guillaume, the 9-hole course is suitable for all levels. The site has a golf training center with a pro driving range, a large synthetic putting green, a practice bunker and 3 pitch and putt holes. And in Jumièges, the golf course covers more than 60 hectares with 50 practice stations and an 18-hole course.

  • Starting out for a cultural jog!

Give your general culture a new lease on life during a 10-kilometer circuit of running or brisk walking. The breaks will allow you to learn a little more about the history of the city, on various themes such as Joan of Arc, from the Vikings to the Dukes of Normandy, Rouen under the occupation or the forgotten bell towers…

The call of the forest

Rouen is France’s first forest core agglomeration. Its three forests have obtained the national label of exception and cover 25,000 ha of greenery, i.e. one third of the territory! A real green lung where you can walk on educational trails, venture into an arboretum and enjoy with your family a wildlife park with deer and wild boars. The forest houses have a rich schedule of workshops, from making herbariums to discovering the deer’s bellow at night.
