Viva City

Viva Cité is one of the most important street arts festivals in Europe and takes place just outside of Rouen, in Sotteville-lès-Rouen. Supported by Sotteville-lès-Rouen city council and artistically produced by L’Atelier 231 since 2002, Viva Cité festival is now a must-see event to do every year.

A historical festival of street arts in Europe

Viva Cité celebrated its 30 years in 2019, 30 years of festive and artistic co-creations between the municipality of Sotteville-lès-Rouen and L’Atelier 231, one of the 13 National Centers for Street Arts and Public Space (CNAREP) in France.

Each year, around 70 companies perform all over Sotteville-lès-Rouen and offer no less than 300free performances to all the spectators who always respond to this event. These companies, whether regional, national, international, amateur or professional offer a multitude of shows ranging from dance to theater to pyrotechnics, strolling or puppetry shows.

On June 24 and 25, 2023, artists and spectators willinvestigate again the city, its neighborhoods, its spaces and its unlikely places

A friendly festival

Viva Cité is built for and with the inhabitants for the happiness of all.

Located in the Bois de la Garenne, close to the Hôtel de Ville de Sotteville-lès-Rouen, the public appreciates the scenographies as always féeriques, transporting them into a surprising artistic universe. The Viva Cité festival is accessible by public transportation (Metro – Sotteville City Hall Station) and is free. In addition to the shows, many animations for children and food stands are also present at the festival.
