The Tour de France makes a stop in Rouen

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the city of Rouen will be abuzz with excitement as the 4ᵉ stage of the Tour de France arrives from Amiens.

For this 173 km long stage, the world’s greatest cyclists will cross the finish line right in the heart of the Normandy capital, Place du Boulingrin. With hilly landscapes, strategic difficulties at the end of the route and a festive atmosphere, this day promises to be a highlight of the Tour de France 2025.

The Tour de France returns to Rouen! On July 8, 2025, the city of a hundred steeples will vibrate to the rhythm of the cyclists for a stage finish that promises to be spectacular, after a distance of 173 km. As the capital of Normandy and a historic crossroads, Rouen is once again proving itself to be an essential stopover for the summer’s biggest sporting event. Already welcomed 18 times since 1957, Rouen is set to provide an exceptional backdrop for fans of the Grande Boucle. Whether you’re a loyal supporter, a day-tripper or a fan of the popular atmosphere, get ready for a memorable day of emotion, adrenalin and conviviality.

Runners will enter the Metropole Rouen Normandie territory via La Neuville-Chant-d’Oisel, then cross several communes before reaching Rouen. The final 46 kilometers will take in the roads of 10 communes of the Metropole, with notable challenges such as the côte de Bonsecours (900 m at 7.2%), the côte de Grand’Mare (1.8 km at5%) and the rampe Saint-Hilaire, a 900 m wall with passages at 15%, before covering the last 500 m from boulevard de l’Yser to the finish line at Place du Boulingrin.

Recommended viewing points
  • Bonsecours: between the top of the côte des Poids Lourds and the rue de Darnétal, spectators will be able to watch the runners pass twice at 650-metre intervals.
  • Quartier Grieu: at route de Darnétal, spectators will be able to watch the peloton pass twice in one place.
  • Boulingrin sector: between the Saint-Hilaire ramp and the finish on boulevard de l’Yser, offering a view of the riders from the front.

Events and festivities around the Tour

July 8th

When the Tour de France comes to Rouen on July 8, the city will be in the saddle for a festive and popular day! On the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, a giant screen will allow you to follow the stage live, right at the heart of the atmosphere. The day’s events will include cycling parades organized by the VCR and Lovélo, to the delight of young and old alike. The famous Tour village will also be in town, accompanied by its colorful procession. And of course, the mythical publicity caravan will be on hand to set the mood and hand out smiles and goodies before the riders arrive.

And there’ll be plenty of entertainment to celebrate the event!

May 24th
La Fête du Tour

A day to celebrate cycling in all its forms, in a friendly, family-friendly atmosphere! On the program: more than 25 free events for young and old (bike tests, practical workshops, initiations, sporting challenges, and musical surprises!) Three venues to vibrate to the rhythm of the events:

  • Rue Jeanne-d’Arc (11am-6pm) The beating heart of the festival: bike village, association stands, bike exchange, repair workshops, fun activities… and a big rally at 6pm for a musical bike parade through the streets of Rouen, heading for the Quartier Libre to close the day in style!
  • Place Saint-Sever (11am-6pm) A space dedicated to families and the curious: agility course, second-hand bike sales, workshops, demonstrations and repairs open to all.
  • Presqu’île Rollet (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) Host to the RUSHCLUB CRIT, a fixed-gear bike challenge open to all levels, to cross a fast 1.66 km circuit, with 8 bends, for the pleasure of riding, cheering or experimenting. During the day, the track will also be open to the public, allowing them to test their pedaling skills in complete freedom. Reservations required

Bicycle treasure hunt

Esplanade Marcel-Duchamp Meet at 1:30 p.m. for a great treasure hunt for children. Departure at 2 p.m., followed by a snack at 5 p.m. (no prior registration required).

May 28

The Hauts de Rouen loop

Place Alfred-de-Musset A sporty, fun and free afternoon for the whole family! On the program:

  • Smoothie bikes for pedal-powered blending,
  • Endurance challenges on exercise bikes,
  • Relay, time trial and bike course,
  • Repair workshop to learn how to maintain your bike,
  • Bouncy castle for the little ones.
  • And to round off the day, there’s a free snack at 5 p.m.!
July 7th
The Tour for all

Kindarena Watch the Valenciennes – Dunkerque stage of the Tour de France on exercise bikes at Kindarena, immersed in the race thanks to giant screens! You’ll also find a sports and health village, with 5 official Tour partners and outdoor activities (games and entertainment). Free, no reservation required

Jacques Anquetil exhibition

1st floor Hôtel de Ville de Rouen Immerse yourself in the world of a cycling giant with this exhibition dedicated to Jacques Anquetil, an emblematic figure in Norman sport and the first five-time winner of the Tour de France. Through five thematic sections, the exhibition retraces his exceptional career, his exploits, his inimitable style and the lasting impact he left on the world of cycling. Period objects, rare archives and personal accounts will help you relive the highlights of his career and discover his influence on the media and the sport.
