The program of the Armada of Rouen 2023

The Armada de Rouen 2023 will take place from June 8 to 18, 2023 on the banks of the Seine in Rouen. A colorful program will be proposed with free and various animations. During these 10 days of festivities, discover the program of the Armada 2023 and make the most of this exceptional event.

Every evening, from June 8 to 17,enjoy concerts, fireworks on the site of the Rouen Armada and the “Cathedral of Light”show on the facade of the Notre-Dame de Rouen Cathedral right in the heart of the city.

  • Wednesday, June 7 from 5pm – La Grande Pagaille
    Launch day of the 8th edition of the Armada 2023.

On this occasion, la Grande Pagaille makes its return. Thisburlesque race on the Seine with crazy boats each crazier than the other in the image of a life-size naval battle will beone of the strong events of the Armada program. Rich in emotion, the crews of the 30 boats competein imagination and originality.

  • Thursday, June 8 – Arrival of the boats
    It’s time for the arrival of the ships, schooners and old sailing ships. The Flaubert Bridge rises to welcome the first arrivals. It is possible to come salute the sailors present during this 8th edition. Coming from all over the world, they will all be there to make you dream during these 10 days of festivities. June 8 is World Oceans Day. A major scientific symposium is organized in Rouen in partnership with the Institut de l’Océan.
  • Friday, June 9 – Arrival of the boats
    The second big day of the arrival of the boats of this 8th edition of the Armada 2023.

    Experience the official inauguration, visits and concerts...
    • Saturday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. – Official Inauguration
      This is the official inauguration day of the Armada 2023! On the program for this inauguration day, the Armada usually organizes the captains’ dinner in the early evening.
    • Sunday, June 11 at 11:00 am – Religious celebrations with the sailors
      Faithful to the tradition of the Rouen Armada and the world of the sea in France, the sailors’ mass will be at the rendezvous and will be celebrated by the Archbishop of Rouen from the sailboat the Atlantis. See you for a great moment of emotion with sailors from different parts of the world. You will be able to meet sailors, commanders or skippers of boats like the Belle Poule or the Belem. The mass will be able to be followed from the left bank quays on the Rollet peninsula but also live on France 2 and RCF. This event brings together 2,000 to 5,000 people, an opportunity to share a moment of tradition with sailors from around the world.

    On the evening program, concerts as well as a fireworks display between 23:00 and 23:30.

    • Monday, June 12 – The Great Caterpillar
      Come and take on the challenge of making the largest human caterpillar: 10,000 people to reach to beat the previous record of 5,000 people. The organizers give you an appointment on the esplanade.
    • Wednesday, June 14 from 14h – The parade of sailors
      The most beautiful spectacle of the Rouen Armada: the parade of crews. They invite themselves in the streets of the city of Rouen in the early afternoon p for a show punctuated by the music of brass bands. The inhabitants of the city of Rouen as well as visitors discover the crews in their ceremonial dress. Departure at 2pm from the Flaubert Bridge, towards the City Hall of Rouen.
    • Saturday, June 17 at 8am – the sailors’ jogging
      Get out your sneakers and run with the sailors!” The sailors’ jogging is making its comeback, on the quays of the Seine from the Rollet Peninsula. The quays will thus see the sailors break over a course of 6 km: a great opportunity to share, meet, exchange with sailors and admire the great sailing ships. In this last weekend of the Armada 2023, enjoy the last moments with the sailors.

    The evening, the last concerts as well as the last fireworks. These will close between 23h and 23h30 this 8th edition.

    The big parade

    to end on a high note
    • Sunday, June 18 – The Grand Parade
      It’s the day of the Grand Parade, take your place for this great show! The Grand Parade is one of the biggest events in the world of boating. The three masts, school ships or warships will raise anchor. Then they will cast off the moorings to sail up the river to the estuary. On the banks of the Seine, aboard the boats or launches, admire or participate in this great parade for a last goodbye to this 2023 armada. The departure of the boats will be in the morning from Rouen. Departure of all sailboats, the great parade of Rouen will raise the Flaubert Bridge to greet the sailors one last time. All along the Seine, take a seat, with family, friends and live this great moment: the crews are in the sails or maneuvering aboard their sailboats.
      The boats will pass in the ports of La Bouille, Duclair, La Mailleraye, Le Trait, Saint-Nicolas-de-Bliquetuit, Rives-en-Seine-Caudebec-en-Caux, Villequier.This passage will be accompanied by animations during the grand parade in the various ports.

    Enjoy the magic of the Armada during the evenings on the quays of the Seine.Expected by the public, the fireworks of the Armada are exceptional moments to experience the event differently. The quays of the Seine catch fire and the twinkling lights in the sky highlight the most beautiful sailing ships in the world.

    With the free concerts, the fireworks of the Armada make the show every night for the happiness of young and old. A festive moment out of time on the banks of the Seine in the capital of Normandy.

    To admire the fireworks of the Armada, you can position yourself son the quays of the Seine on the right bank, the bridges but also on the panoramas around Rouen such as that of the Sainte-Catherine Hill.
