Day 2

Guided boat trip down the Seine to La Bouille

Morning

You will discover the port of Rouen and travel down the river to the commune of La Bouille. Once you arrive in La Bouille, take the time to
wander this small village, a mecca of impressionism and so dear to Hector Malot.

Amateurs of Romanesque architecture and gardens, you will be seduced by the serenity of the place, the panoramic view of the valley of the
Seine and will not resist the pleasure of floating in the 4-hectare monastery garden, among the most beautiful abbey gardens in Northern France. Go and discover the flowering vegetable garden, the medicinal and aromatic plants, the orchard and the scented plants of the garden of scents. The abbey church, bright and perfectly preserved is a masterpiece of Romanesque art.

Day 3

Guided tour on the steps of Flaubert

Morning

Gustave Flaubert was born in Rouen in 1821 to a bourgeois family. His entire life was devoted toliterature. A city dear to his heart, Flaubert speaks a lot about Rouen in his books, and invites you, with Madame Bovary, to a discovery of Rouen in the nineteenth century. As a tribute, the city will raise in 1890 a monument to the glory of the writer.

Guided tour of the Flaubert Museum and the History of Medicine

Afternoon

Located inthe Hôtel-Dieu pavilion where Gustave Flaubert was born, and where his father held a position as a surgeon, this museum displays family memorabilia Flaubert and evokes the history of medicine from the Middle Ages to the early twentieth century, such as an eighteenth-century delivery dummy, a unique piece in France.
A important collection of ceramics, literature and old books are also found in this hospital museum.

Museum classified Historical Monument, label Musée de France and label Maison des Illustres.
