Coming to Rouen

Want to come to Normandy? All roads lead to Rouen. By car, train, plane or bicycle, the historic capital of Normandy is just a few hours from its European counterparts.

How to get to Normandy

The choice is yours
  • If you take the car...

1h30 to get to Normandy from Paris, 3h from Lille and 5h30 from Lyon.

    • Crit’Air sticker

From September 1, 2022, the circulation of the most polluting private and commercial vehicles will be regulated by the introduction of a Low Emission Zone (ZFE). All vehicles in Rouen must carry a Crit’Air sticker.

    • Vehicles concerned

All motor vehicles, whether private or commercial, are affected by the introduction of the Crit’Air sticker: cars, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles, scooters, cars without a license, buses and heavy goods vehicles. Within the EPZ, vehicles with a Crit’Air 4, 5 or “unclassified” sticker cannot circulate or park within the perimeter.

    • Crit’Air 4, 5 or “unclassified” vehicles

If you own a Crit’Air 4, 5 or “unclassified” vehicle, you are not allowed to drive or park in the EPZ. It is then possible to use the park-and-ride facilities at the entrances to the city and then take public transport. (More information on park-and-ride facilities). Financial assistance is available to help you change your vehicle. For full details, visit the Métropole Rouen Normandie website.

  • If you take the train...

Rouen Rive-Droite station is connected to all major French and European destinations(Rouen – Paris: 1h15, Rouen – Lille: 3h30 via Paris or Amiens, Rouen – Lyon: 3h45 with a direct departure every day, Rouen – Brussels: 5h via Paris and Lille, Rouen – Marseille: 5h30). Plan your journey here.

  • If you're flying...

Rouen is close to 3 airports offering connections to major European cities. Charles de Gaulle airport, 1h45 from Rouen, offers destinations to and from all over the world. Beauvais-Tillé is a low-cost airport ideally located for Normandy, 1h30 from Rouen, serving European capitals and North Africa. Rouen also has its own airport, located 10 km from downtown Rouen, specialized in business tourism.

  • If you take the bike...

La Seine à Vélo offers a superb itinerary, linking Paris to Deauville or Paris to Le Havre, and taking you along the emblematic Seine river. You can cycle all the way to the Rouen Normandy metropolis, while (re)discovering a wide variety of tourist landscapes and exploring Normandy off the beaten track.
