The Normandy Impressionnist Festival returns in 2024 for its 5th edition! From March 22 to September 22, the streets come alive with a variety of events and installations. Don’t miss this not-to-be-missed event dedicated to Impressionism.

The Normandy Impressionnist Festival celebrates the art of Impressionism through a series of exhibitions, cultural events and varied activities, offering a captivating immersion in the colorful and evocative world of this revolutionary artistic movement.

Lunch on the Grass

By Rouen Tourisme, Sunday May 5 at Château d’Hautot-sur-Seine This year, Rouen Tourisme invites you to a unique experience as part of the Normandy Impressionnist festival. Reserve your Sunday May 5 for a country picnic in the gardens of the Château d’Hautot-sur-Seine, along the loops of the Seine. Enjoy musicians, period games, lunch on the grass, local delicacies and horseback rides, all in thecountry atmosphere of the 1920s. Around 400 people are expected to attend, so be sure to reserve your seats now! Tickets coming soon

The illuminated concert

La Maison Illuminée, at the Jardin des Plantes and Saint-Nicaise church in Rouen, and at Jumièges Abbey, from 18.05 to 07.09 Attend a concert in three parts, beginning with the compositions of pianist Erik Satie, followed by those of composer Philip Glass, and ending with the creations of composer Camille Pépin. This musical program explores the links between the Honfleur composer and the American composer, both precursors of minimalist and repetitive music at different times. It’s a musical journey through eras and influences. Information and booking

Star and stone: a kind of love… some say. Cathedral of Light

Place de la Cathédrale, Rouen, 24.05 to 28.09 When contemporary art meets the majesty of Rouen Cathedral, it’s a historic event! For Cathédrale de Lumière , American visual artist Robert Wilson creates an audiovisual work projected onto the façade of this monument immortalized by Claude Monet. Renowned for his work with stars such as Jessye Norman and Willem Dafoe, Wilson brings his genius for light to this unique creation. Carried by the voice ofIsabelle Huppert and the poetry of Maya Angelou, this monumental installation is an artistic event not to be missed. Free every evening at dusk. Info and booking

Piano recital

Les Musicales de Normandie, at Abbaye de Jumièges on 18.08 Les Musicales de Normandie and Normandie Impressionniste join forces for an exceptional event at Abbaye de Jumièges. Spectators will have the privilege of enjoying a piano recital in the heart of the Abbey’s remains, while discovering Laurent Grasso‘s artistic installations. Digital ParadICE, Miguel Chevalier

At the Patinoire de loisirs Édith-Ballester in Rouen, from 24.02 to 03.05 Immerse yourself in a dynamic and colorful experience with Digital ParadICE by Miguel Chevalier at the Rouen skating rink. The pioneering digital artist creates an interactive work of art that transforms to the rhythm of the skaters, fusing art, sport and technology. Come and discover this unique installation, where your movements give life to patterns and light effects on the ice. Colors, lights, movement Akira Inumaru

At Saint-Maclou church, from 22.03 to 22.09 In Saint-Maclou church, the three chapels are transformed into chambers of light byAkira Inumaru‘s fascinating installation. This creation invites you to modify the colorful flashes of 15th-century stained glass with your steps, your voice and your presence, offering you a bewitching, shimmering experience. Another end of the world is possible, by Thomas Teurlai

At SHED, Notre-Dame-de-Bondeville, 04.05 – 14.07 SHED once again takes part in the Normandy Impressionnist festival with two exhibitions on its contrasting sites. Thomas Teurlai creates imaginary worlds with rebus, expressing a reaction to a post-apocalyptic universe. Py-Verde, for her part, invents an absurd and humorous universe, proposing astonishing and amusing projects. Info and booking

Hulahoop, installation by Scale

At Aître Saint-Maclou, from 24.05 to 08.06 Explore the spellbinding world of Hulahoop, the latest creation by Collectif Scale, blendingimpressionism with hypnotic geometric ballet.
