2023 finally gives way to a new year full of promises and events for young and old. Here are the main cultural, gastronomic, sporting and festive events taking place in Rouen in 2024!

In January, hunt for unique objects

From Friday January 12 to Sunday January 14, the Puces Rouennaises return to the Parc des Expositions in Rouen, to the delight of all second-hand enthusiasts . During these 3 days, stroll through the aisles to discover antique, retro chic, vintage or unusual collections, objects and furniture. For Antiques and Brocante professionals, Thursday January 12 is specially reserved for you. Let’s not lose sight of the crucial importance of preserving our heritage. In this respect, the fundraising campaign for Saint-Ouen, in collaboration with the Fondation du Patrimoine, continues apace! Your contribution is essential to the restoration of the rose in the south transept of the Abbatiale Saint-Ouen. Put on your ice skates in February

On Friday February 2 and Saturday February 3, the French Cup returns for its 29th edition. At this international synchronized skating competition, you’ll be dazzled by the artistic performances of numerous teams determined to qualify for the world championships. On Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25, the Normannia medieval fantasy fair is back, and has some great surprises in store for you: a gigantic medieval, fairy-tale and craft market with tons of entertainment!

In March and April, celebrate Normandy

From Wednesday March 13 to Sunday April 21, the Spring Festival,the first international festival of contemporary circus on a regional scale, invites you for five weeks to encounter today’s circus: dance, music, theater, visual arts… Starting on March 22, and continuing for 6 months, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Impressionism with 150 events organized by the renowned Normandie Impressionnistefestival in honor of this Normandy heritage, recognized in France and around the world! The program includes a host of exhibitions, including the ground-breaking ones devoted to James Abbott McNeill Whistler and David Hockney at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Rouen! Among the many events, Robert Wilson, American artist-director and visual artist, will add another dimension to Cathédrale de Lumière, a free projection on France’s tallest cathedral! From March 1 to October 15, Normandy celebrates the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. There will be numerous highlights throughout the region: international commemorations attended by heads of state, giant fireworks displays, concerts, parachute drops, balls… From April 13 to 21, take part in one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events of the year in Rouen: theCapfinances Openwomen’s tennis world cup!

In May, combine historical and natural heritage

This year, Rouen Tourisme is organizing a brand-new event as part of the Normandie Impressionniste festival. Book your Sunday, May 05: a Déjeuner sur l’Herbe, in the gardens of the Château d’Hautot-sur-Seine, along the loops of the Seine, awaits you! Folklore group, open-air games, creative workshops, picnic, local cuisine, pony rides… All in the country atmosphere of the ’20s. Book here. In Rouen, his memory permeates the walls. A key figure in the history of France, Joan has become a myth ofinternational interest. Feel the pulse of La Pucelle’s last hours in the capital of Normandy. From Thursday May 09 to Saturday May 11, the “Fêtes Jeanne d’Arc” return for a third edition. Parades, medieval market, shows… take a leap back in time to the era of the troubadours. And if you’re looking for a colorful weekend of flowers, on Saturday May 18 and Sunday May 19, Graines de Jardin will once again be taking over Rouen’s Jardin des Plantes, with its theme of strange plants!The same weekend, take part in the Viva Cité festival, one of the 3 biggest street arts events in France and Europe! More than 200 free and accessible shows for the whole family to enjoy. This year’s Terres de Paroles festival runs from June 1 to 8. Welcome to the world of literature, presented in all its forms: authors, actors, musicians, visual artists, filmmakers and multiple artists. From Friday, May 24, the return of the Cathedral of Light, which American artist, director and visual artist Robert Wilson will bring to life through his work as part of the Normandie Impressionniste festival.

In June, shop, dance, wander

From May 31 to June 02, antique dealers, brocanteurs and galleries take over the streets of Rouen for RAR Weekend, the annual rendezvous for bargain hunters and treasure seekers!Come and celebrate freedom as part of the anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy, from Saturday June 1 to Sunday June 16, with the D-Day festival. Parachute drops, parades, concerts, historical re-enactments, fireworks, exhibitions, projections… will take place all along the D-Day and Battle of Normandy coastline, from Pegasus Bridge to Sainte-Mère-Eglise. From June 29, discover the works of art at the Forêt Monumentale in Canteleu en forêt de Roumare. An unusual stroll where art and vegetation intermingle to leave room for our imagination, questioning the relationship between man and nature. The musical event that opens the summer season is back, so get ready to vibrate, dance and dream at the cultural and family festival: Rush from June 06 to 15. Masks, fencing, acrobatics, humor, laughter, romance, song, dance, combat, everything is brought together to carry you away in a whirlwind of pleasure and intense emotion. Liven up your summer evenings

Every Thursday in July, Rouen hosts Les Terrasses du Jeudi, a series of free concerts in a variety of musical styles right in the heart of the city. The Fête du Fleuve, which marks the start of the summer vacations, is back for its 3rd edition this year, from July 05 to 07! Join in the festivities to celebrate the Seine and promote ecological transition, and discover captivating events designed for young and old alike. The Rouen sur Mer summer event will be back on the banks of the Seine from July 06 to August 04, on the quays of the Left Bank, to the delight of Rouen residents and tourists looking for deckchairs and beach activities! To keep you entertained all summer long, the Jours de Fête festival is back, with some twenty free shows across the Rouen Normandie Metropole, from July 06 to August 25. From July 26 to August 30, the Musicales de Normandie offer new concerts in some of the region’s outstanding heritage sites. Listen to classical music, world music and recitals. Once again this year, Rouen and the surrounding area play host to the Cavaillé-Coll Organ Festival, with concerts, exhibitions, tours and masterclasses to be discovered through the beauty of the organs in the Rouen Metropolis, from August 04 to 25. The Paralympic Torch Relay will be in Rouen on August 25. The 24 torchbearers will walk a 5 km route. s

A lively back-to-school season

The start of the new school year rhymes with the Fête du Commerce et de l’Artisanat from Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 15, including the not-to-be-missed Braderie de Rouen. There will also be fun events in the neighborhoods and markets, shows, games, dances and a photo contest! On Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, the Journées du Patrimoine return with a new theme. This weekend invites you to discover or rediscover the establishments, monuments and sites of our rich heritage, often exceptional and closed the rest of the year. For all you architecture fans out there, the Zigzag festival will take you on a tour of some twenty living spaces from Yvelines to Le Havre, via Rouen, from September 28 to October 13. A not-to-be-missed culinary rendezvous, the Fête du ventre et de la Gastronomie is part of a new event this year: Rouen à Table! Enjoy unique culinary experiences throughout Rouen on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13. Battles between international chefs and members of the UNESCO network, a grand breakfast on the Place de la Cathédrale, cooking classes x Fauchon, agastronomic rally, a grand tea party… Save the date, it’s THE gourmet event of the year! From Friday, October 18 to Sunday, November 17, the Foire Saint-Romain lights up to the delight of Rouennais, young and old alike. Phantom trains, laughter palaces, ice-cream parlors, thrill rides, croustillons… a colorful event.

Before the holidays

The This is England festival has been a fixture in Rouen for several years now, and will be back for another edition at the Omnia République and Kinepolis Saint-Sever cinemas, from November 16 to 24! The metropolitan museums will be taking you on a new journey around the theme of Reconstruction at the end of the year!
